India and Sweden advance industrial transition cooperation

The announcement fulfils the commitment made by the Prime Ministers of India and Sweden at COP28 to deepen collaboration on innovative technology pathways and joint implementation of industry transition initiatives.

Further details on the selected collaboration areas and next steps will be presented at a technical workshop in New Delhi on 8 December, co-organised by the Swedish Energy Agency and the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

“I am pleased that Swedish pioneers and technology providers have stepped up to work with ambitious Indian leaders. I wish them the best as they begin their collaboration during a visit to India this December. We look forward to hearing about their progress at COP31 and encourage other companies to step up,” said Minister for Climate & Environment, Romina Pourmokhtari in a video message.

“India and Sweden will be coming together to initiate projects on advanced low carbon technologies, including value creation from industrial by-products and gases, carbon capture and utilisation, use of artificial intelligence for production optimisation and electrification and use of hydrogen for industrial heating,” said Union Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav.
